North York, Ontario – June 15th, 2020

Novotel Toronto North York Hotel is thrilled to welcome guests back to the hotel, effective today, after temporarily closing operations on March 23rd, 2020.

In early March, over the course of a few short weeks, travel throughout the world reduced to a near halt due to the health crisis. As owner of 21 hotels across Ontario, Vrancor Group adjusted operations accordingly, which meant a reduction in hours, temporary leave for some team members or outright temporary closure to some facilities including Novotel Toronto North York Hotel.

“What’s happening inside our hotels is changing” said Michael Singer, General Manager. “In addition to existing physical distancing practices that are carefully laid out in public areas and elevators, Accor Hotels have developed ALL Stay Well, a global initiative representing some of the most stringent cleaning standards and operation procedures in the hospitality industry to strengthen the hotels’ commitment to the care of all who visit.”

This industry-leading program impacts every aspect of the hotel experience and reinforces the commitment to the safety and wellbeing of both guests and team members. All protocols have been developed following guidance from the WHO, CDC and local Government and Public Health Agencies. Heightened efforts build on already high standards of housekeeping and hygiene that use EPA-registered disinfectants to effectively sanitize guestrooms, fitness and business centres, lobbies and meeting spaces. Extra attention is given to high touch areas including light switches, door handles, TV remote controls, elevator buttons, and faucets. Guests will have access to masks upon arrival and hand sanitizer stations are located in key public areas throughout the hotel. Upon check-in, screenings will be conducted for each guest, which may include temperature checks. Each guestroom will be thoroughly disinfected and deep cleaned, and guests will receive “wellness kits” that include masks, gloves, hand sanitizer and disinfecting wipes. Additionally, there will be a 48-hour vacancy period post-departure, prior to starting deep cleaning procedures. With enhanced protocols in place, guests will continue to be welcomed with the highest degree of care and comfort.

“The health and wellbeing of guests remains our top priority”, said Singer. “We have a long-standing tradition of setting new benchmarks for excellence in our industry and as more guests prepare to resume travel, we’ll be ready to welcome them with new standards that support this unprecedented moment in our history.” The hotel employs 85 associates including management and hourly team members.
